6th June 2019 skydivers jumped with GoSkydive based on Old Sarum Airfield. GoSkydive partnered with Alabare, Nationwide and The Chapel Night Club Salisbury to get as many people to jump over 2 jump days, 75 years on from when 23,000 paratroopers landed in Normandy, giving the jump extra significance.
The commemorative skydive through Alabare, homes for veterans aims to raise vital funds and awareness, providing supported accommodation to British Armed Forces Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. No Veteran should be forced to sleep on the streets. Alabare provide dedicated support to Veterans across the South of England and Wales - specifically; Wiltshire, Hampshire, Gloucestershire, Dorset as well as North and South Wales. On any given night Alabare Homes for Veterans are able to keep over 129 Veterans off the streets.
Paul Shipway, General Manager – GoSkydive:“We are very proud to welcome back for a second time Alabare, the charity that supports homeless veterans, this time being particularly significant as it commemorates 75 years on from the D-Day paratroopers Normandy landings.”
Emily Wise, Charity Account Manager - GoSkydive:“It was great to have an incredible group of skydivers here raising money for Alabare. The funds go towards homeless veterans which was very fitting. It is important we remember the sacrifice made 75 years ago.”
