Who we are

Wiltshire Air Ambulance Charitable Trust is a registered charity providing an essential Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) in Wiltshire and surrounding counties.

The charity began operating on 15 March 1990 and the helicopter and crew have saved countless lives, sharing a helicopter with Wiltshire Police for 24 years. It began operating as a stand-alone air ambulance on 9 January 2015, using a Bell 429 helicopter. The air ambulance can scramble in just two minutes and reach anywhere in Wiltshire within nine minutes. The speed of our helicopter, along with the skill of our crew, can make the difference between life and death.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance attend, on average, 3 potentially lifesaving missions a day.

What we do

Wiltshire Air Ambulance is a charity and relies on donations to keep saving lives. It is not funded directly by the Government and receives no National Lottery grants. It costs £3.75 million a year to keep the air ambulance flying, that’s just over £10,000 per day.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s paramedics are trained in critical care skills and, together with the specialist medical equipment they use, it enables them to deliver gold standard medical care to patients. We are operational up to 19 hours a day, 365 days a year and is called to, on average, three incidents a day in its helicopter and two Rapid Response Vehicles (cars).

Why we need you

In 2018 almost one in four incidents were cardiac emergencies, one in five incidents were road traffic collisions and one in ten incidents involved children. In 2018  Wiltshire Air Ambulance was called to once a week, on average to 68 incidents within the Salisbury area (68).

We really are funded by you and flying for you.

1. SELECT A CHARITY

A list of charities that we are partnered with are here for you to select. Some of the charities that we work with have fundraising targets and others are self-funded by yourself, each charity we work with will state if they will contribute to some of your jump cost or if you need to self-fund your own place.

2. BOOK YOUR SKYDIVE

You can book individually or as a group with just a £50 deposit per person on any operational day. Some of the charities we work with have reserved spaces on pre-selected days that you are more than welcome to join.

3. START FUNDRAISING

OK you’re all set – This is now the time to start fundraising for your selected charity, we recommend to set up an online fundraising page as all funds you raise will automatically go to the charity of your choice. Please remember you are unable to use any money raised to pay for your skydive and if you have a target set by the charity you have to hit this 3 weeks before the date of your jump to ensure these funds are online for the charity to see!
