Who we are
Our aim is to end hunger and poverty in the UK. We support a nationwide network of food banks and together we provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty, and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.
We support more than 1,200 food bank centres in the UK to provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food to people who have been referred in crisis (for instance by advice agencies, GPs, social services and schools), as well as support to help people resolve the crises they face. Between April 2017 and March 2018, food banks in our network provided more than 1.3 million emergency food supplies to people in crisis, a 13% increase on the previous year.
We know it takes more than food to end hunger. So we bring together the experiences of food banks in our network, and their communities, to challenge the structural economic issues that lock people in poverty, and campaign for change to end hunger and poverty in the UK
What we do
Last year the network of over 400 food banks gave over one million three day food supplies which is one million too many.
Everything is in partnership with local communities and all the food given out by food banks is donated by the public.
