Who we are:

SOFT UK was founded by Chris Rose 26 years ago when her son was born with Edwards’ syndrome. Chris and co-founder Jenny Robbins, set up the charity when they both had babies affected by the condition (also known as Trisomy 13 and Trisomy 18) and found that there was very little information or support available for them in caring for their babies. Even the medical professionals they met had little or no knowledge about the syndromes affecting their children. Using their own experience, they set about creating a network of parents in similar situations to themselves, leading to the creation of the charity SOFT UK (Support Organisation for Trisomy 13 and 18) in 1991.

What we do:

Our Mission is to provide support, assistance and information to families having a child affected with Patau’s syndrome (Trisomy 13) or Edwards syndrome (Trisomy 18) and their related disorders of partial Trisomy, Mosaicism and Deletions. We support families to make choices that are right for them and at all stages following a pre or post natal diagnosis.

Why we need you:

Today SOFT UK remains an almost entirely volunteer led organisation with a small number of trained volunteers who run a telephone helpline. We also provide information and access to the latest research on our website; remembrance and bereavement support and run regular family days and conferences. We have supported many hundreds of families over the past 26 years, but need vital funds to continue the work we do.

 

1. SELECT A CHARITY

A list of charities that we are partnered with are here for you to select. Some of the charities that we work with have fundraising targets and others are self-funded by yourself, each charity we work with will state if they will contribute to some of your jump cost or if you need to self-fund your own place.

2. BOOK YOUR SKYDIVE

You can book individually or as a group with just a £50 deposit per person on any operational day. Some of the charities we work with have reserved spaces on pre-selected days that you are more than welcome to join.

3. START FUNDRAISING

OK you’re all set – This is now the time to start fundraising for your selected charity, we recommend to set up an online fundraising page as all funds you raise will automatically go to the charity of your choice. Please remember you are unable to use any money raised to pay for your skydive and if you have a target set by the charity you have to hit this 3 weeks before the date of your jump to ensure these funds are online for the charity to see!
