Who we are
LinkAble is a charity based in Surrey which helps children and adults with learning disabilities in Woking and Surrey Heath. We offer people activities and experiences that they struggle to access in the wider community, supporting them to learn new skills, form lasting friendships and lead fulfilling, independent lives. We have a fully accessible centre in Woking and also work out and about in the local community. We provide weekly groups for children, young people and adults, a bi-monthly night club and regular holiday schemes which provide fun and engaging time for people with learning disabilities, and vital respite for exhausted parents and carers. For many, LinkAble is a lifeline.
What we do
We have three service strands; children (5 – 11), youth (11 – 18) and adults (18 plus with no upper age limit). We break down barriers within the community by supporting service users to enjoy the same activities as their peers. Activities such as dancing, water sports, trips out, after school clubs, weekend activities, holiday schemes and residential trips. The adult group are offered activities designed to develop their independent living skills such as healthy living, fitness, gardening, cooking, managing their finances and help them find suitable work and volunteering opportunities, enabling them to become valued members within their communities. Our evening services tend to feature more user-led social and recreational activities such as swimming, restaurant visits and karaoke. There is a choir and drama group. For well over ten years we have run a nightclub evening five times a year which frequently attracts over 250 adults with learning disabilities.
Why we need your support
As a small charity a little funding goes a long way at LinkAble and your donation would make a difference to the lives of the children and adults with learning disabilities that we work with. A donation could fund:
£125 – Training of a sessional worker to ensure the highest level of care for service users under 18 years old
£250 – Could fund the cost of tools, equipment and seeds for a new gardening project at our newly acquired allotment
£1,516 – The running costs of the charity for one day
Raising money for your tandem skydive via an online fundraising page makes it quick and simple for your friends and family to support you. You can share the link to your fundraising page via your social media pages and through texts and emails. If you haven't done so already click through now and set-up your page.
fundraising ideasA list of charities that we are partnered with are here for you to select. Some of the charities that we work with have fundraising targets and others are self-funded by yourself, each charity we work with will state if they will contribute to some of your jump cost or if you need to self-fund your own place.
You can book individually or as a group with just a £50 deposit per person on any operational day. Some of the charities we work with have reserved spaces on pre-selected days that you are more than welcome to join.
OK you’re all set – This is now the time to start fundraising for your selected charity, we recommend to set up an online fundraising page as all funds you raise will automatically go to the charity of your choice. Please remember you are unable to use any money raised to pay for your skydive and if you have a target set by the charity you have to hit this 3 weeks before the date of your jump to ensure these funds are online for the charity to see!
Charity not listed? Not a problem...
If your charity is not listed you can still book an independent charity skydive.
